We had dinner at the Cafe Cruz restaurant in Santa Cruz last night, first time for us. We called and made the reservation earlier in the day and had no problem getting into Cafe Cruz, probably because it was Sunday evening which is a very slow time for all Santa Cruz restaurants.
When we arrived, they had no record of our reservation. We still were able to get in to Cafe Cruz though. We asked to sit at the kitchen counter, no problem. We ordered the Vitner's Table menu with wine pairings. The food was good, not exquisite. The wines were very good and the service was as good to match. We opted for sharing a cheese plate for dessert, rather then the tasting menu dessert. The chef had no problem adjusting ine of the courses to suit my non-meat diet.
We felt this was quite accommodating, as many restuarants are doing now. This may be the best restaurant in Santa Cruz as others has stated, but is not in the same league as Picasso or Nob Hill. All in all, we had a good time and were treated very well.
